All the rumors are true! We helped bring Vanity Fair's vision to life through paint, fabric + other materials for this special issue featuring Lizzo, Emmy and Grammy-winning superstar. Read below to learn more about our involvement and why this project is so meaningful to us!
PROJECT BREAKDOWN STEP 1: Assemble the Set As the art department, we were tasked with assembling the set and carrying out the vision of the set designer and art director. We painted several flats with different colors to serve as the backdrop, steamed multiple sheets of fabric for a seamless look, and assembled an abstract structure for the talent to interact with.
STEP 2: Take Last Looks Eventually, the set came together, and we had a few moments to ourselves before Lizzo was camera ready. We decided to use this opportunity to take our best shot at posing for the camera (see below 😉). We also got to see a peek of Lizzo's outfits at the wardrobe department.
STEP 3: Bring the Talent In It's about damn time! Lizzo made it to set, and she looked absolutely stunning. The art department was on standby if any last minute changes to the set needed to be made. Monitors were available for the crew to preview the current shot or frame in case any adjustments needed to be made to the decor, lighting, or talent.

WHY WE LOVE LIZZO
As a singer, songwriter, dancer, flautist, actor, and reality competition show host, Lizzo is nothing short of spectacular. Not only is she multi-talented, but she isn't afraid to speak up for what she believes in. She’s been outspoken about police brutality and defunding the police and even donated $500,000 to Planned Parenthood and the National Network of Abortion Funds. On top of that, she is a fierce advocate for body positivity, mental health, and fitness, empowering people to love and value themselves.
As a women and minority owned business, Onni Creative was founded with the purpose of uplifting women in the workplace while promoting a creative space in the community that welcomes all across age, gender identity, race, cultural background, physical or mental ability, and perspective. We were incredibly honored to have been on set with Lizzo and assist with her very first cover shoot for Vanity Fair. Lizzo's values and beliefs are completely aligned with ours, and we can only hope to have more opportunities to work with her again.
