Blast Off 🚀 With These 5 Project Hail Mary Activations

Join school teacher Ryland Grace as he races to save Earth when Project Hail Mary hits cinemas on March 20th! We can’t wait to see how this unlikely hero pieces together the mystery that could save the entire planet. To make the experience unforgettable for your moviegoers, we’ve put together five activations that are truly out of this world.

  1. Teacher Discount 🧑‍🏫

Offer discounted tickets to teachers who show their school ID, a nod to the teacher at the heart of the film. Take it a step further by promoting any field trip programs you may have or opening your doors to school groups for daytime screenings. It’s a simple way to strengthen your cinema’s ties with the community, spotlight the film, and give back all at once.

  1. Scientist Lecture 🧑‍🔬

Invite a professor from a local university to give a lecture and Q+A about space travel or other astronomical topics after a screening of the film. If it seems like a hit with your moviegoers, consider looking into Science on Screen for future films, which helps to provide grants for cinemas who bring in scientists to give talks on themes related to films.

  1. Space Decor 🌌

Transform your lobby into an immersive space-themed experience before moviegoers even set foot in the auditorium. Think DIY planets, spaceship lookouts, or glow-in-the-dark stars scattered throughout the hall, all simple touches that bring the world of the film to life before it even begins.

  1. Astronaut Movie Marathon 🧑‍🚀

Screen a lineup of films celebrating unlikely astronauts and space expeditions in the days leading up to the premiere. Potential films could include Mickey 17, Lightyear, or Arrival. You can even get a poll going in-person or on social media where moviegoers can vote on their favorite film astronaut.

  1. Social Media Q’s 🤔

Engage your moviegoers on social media with space-themed questions in the lead-up to the film. Using Instagram’s question feature, prompt your followers with something like “What is one thing you couldn’t go without in space?” then repost your favorite answers to your story!
